Rhode Island Association of School Principals

Retired Members

RIASP regards retired school principals as a very valuable and, as yet, untapped resource for Rhode Island's schools as well as for the Principals' Association itself. In an effort to better utilize the talents possessed by former school principals, RIASP has two retired principals on its board of directors who are working to better serve our retired members.

Sylvia Natale, a former elementary school principal from Woonsocket, and Madeline Perreault, the former principal of Toll Gate High School, are currently focusing their energies on two issues: using retired principals as mentors to support newly appointed principals and keeping former principals involved in education by lobbying at the statehouse on issues that are important to all school leaders. They have also expanded RIASP services to retired principals by providing programming to meet their unique needs. The upcoming program dealing with the employment regulations of the State Retirement Board on May 29th is a good example.

If you are a retired principal and...

  1. are interested in remaining active in your profession, or
  2. if you have ideas about how RIASP and its retired members can better serve one another,

please the call the RIASP office at 272-9811 ext 19.
