The Rhode Island Instructional Leadership Academy (RIILA – also known as the Academy), a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, was created in 2005 to serve as the professional development arm of the Rhode Island Association of School Principals.
The Academy’s mission is to develop and support Rhode Island school leaders to build strong school learning communities that foster high achievement for all students. The Academy’s vision is to provide professional development experiences for Rhode Island school leaders that engage leaders in communities of practice to improve leaders’ ability to improve student achievement and close achievement gaps within and between schools.
In the upcoming year, the Academy will offer a range of professional development. Please check this page, as well as the RIASP home page to view offerings.
The Academy also collaborates with organizations that offer professional development for school leaders. The Academy helped two such programs, the Principal Residency Network (PRN) and the Learning Leader Network (LLN), to grow and form their own organization, the Center for Leadership and Educational Equity. For more information about the PRN or LLN, contact Donna Braun at principalresidencynetwork@gmail.com or go to www.leadershipandequity.org.
