Abraham Lincoln Fellowship

Each year Horace Mann selects 50 educators from around the country to participate in the Horace Mann – Abraham Lincoln Fellowship program.  Fellows tour various historical sites, including the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum, Lincoln’s New Salem State Historic Site, Lincoln’s home, Lincoln’s tomb and the Old State Capitol State Historic Site. Educators also hear from experts on Lincoln’s life and the Civil War era.

Let us help!  We are awarding 35 scholarships totaling $30,000 to Kindergarten through 12th grade teachers, librarians or teacher’s aides of any discipline.

* (1) $5,000 scholarship payable over four years.

* (16) $1,000 scholarships payable over two years.

* (18) $500 one-time scholarships.

Crystal Apple Award

Horace Mann sponsors the Crystal Apple Award program to recognize teaching excellence at the local level.  The program is flexible with school administrators and Horace Mann representatives working together to set the standards and criteria for award winners.  Past recipients of this award were assertive, creative, dedicated, enthusiastic and innovative.
